On Monday, October 14th, the NY Sate Senate Environmental
Conservation Committee, we invite you to join us at a crucial hearing
examining the quality of water in New York, with respect to the
presences of untreated sewage. As you may know, each year, billions of
gallons of untreated sewage enters the Hudson River and other waterways
in our state.
This hearing will serve to inform a Sewage Right to Know law for New York State that will be introduced by Senator Espaillat.
The full text of the letter from Senators Grisanti and Espaillat is available here.
The
hearing will take place in the Senate hearing room at 250 Broadway, New
York, NY 10007 on October 14th 10 – 2 pm. Members of the public,
elected officials, advocates, and experts are encouraged to submit
testimony. The committee will accept written testimony as well as oral
testimony during the hearing.
Strong public
participation in this hearing will help to make for a stronger law and
to attract more sponsors and supporters in the Senate. Please share this
invitation with everyone on your contact list who may be interested.
Even if they don't want to testify, bodies in the room are important.
Encourage people to do what they can- testify in person, testify in
writing, show up, bring friends.
Oral testimony will be accepted by invitation only
and limited to 10 minutes in duration. Digital copies of prepared
testimony must be submitted by Friday, October 7, 2011. Written
testimony will also be accepted and may be sent to the contact person
listed on the testimony / reply form.
The full Notice of Public Hearing and Testimony / Reply Form are available here.
